Mary A. Whalen: now available with new streamlined permit process with the city

The Mary A. Whalen, a historic decommissioned oil tanker docked in Red Hook, is now re-opened for filming as of September 1, 2021!

Booking the Mary A. Whalen has become even more straightforward than ever before! The Atlantic Basin, where the Mary A. Whalen is docked, is now a public access site. As such, the Port Authority has waived its prior requirement for additional maritime permitting (e.g., 30-day advance “ops plans”).

This is fantastic news for film and television crews, reducing the cost of booking and removing bureaucratic red-tape that previously encumbered the process of securing this one in a million location!
